Corporate Video 101: Company Culture Vids

Company culture videos are a powerful way for organizations to connect their beliefs, values, principles, and culture to audiences both internal and external.

This is the first article in a series about the different ways internal comms teams can use videos to arrest the attention—and dare I say even delight—employees.

The first type of video we’re talking about is company culture videos. And there are many types of videos within this category.

What are they? Company culture videos are videos that expound upon your corporate beliefs, values, and principles and communicate different aspects of your culture.

Where are they seen? These videos might be internal (emailed, posted on the intranet, shown before live events) or external (talent recruitment efforts).

What are they like? These can be “piece to cam” or “talking head” where someone speaks directly to the viewer like the example below that we produced for an IT consultancy.

In this video, we mixed footage of the CEO speaking with b-roll that we filmed during other projects for Rise8.

One of the things our clients enjoy about working consistently with us is that we build up a library of footage and stills from their past projects that can be used in future ones.

Footage of your real people adds a lot of production value to smaller budget projects and makes the message more believable than a video using stock footage.

Company culture videos can also be employees sharing their experience like the one below where Rise8 employees (“Risers”) talk about the benefits they enjoy at the company:

This culture video also crosses over into the next type of corporate comms video I’ll be talking about in this series: videos for recruitment.
